I hold no view on the underlying allegations, which are for a court to determine. My concern is procedural. Both men have been under continuous investigation across three jurisdictions since December 2022, more than three and a half years, without a single charge being tested at trial. In December 2024 the Bucharest Court of Appeal found irregularities in the Romanian indictment and returned the file to prosecutors. In the United Kingdom, the Crown Prosecution Service declined to charge in 2019 after a four-year investigation, and that file was reopened seven years later. Andrew Tate has said publicly that he has been held in a Special Housing Unit. The Bureau of Prisons declined to confirm the placement. Both men are pre-trial detainees who have not been convicted of any offence. I would ask you to raise the following: 1. Whether release pending proceedings has been properly considered, given their lawyers' submission that both men remained in Romania and complied with the court's requirements for more than three years. 2. Whether either man has been placed in segregated housing, what justification has been recorded, and whether it is subject to periodic review. 3. What steps are being taken to ensure these proceedings are heard promptly, in the interests of the complainants as much as the accused. Serious allegations deserve a serious process. Finding the right person
- United Kingdom:find your MP at members.parliament.uk. The relevant departments are the Home Office and the Attorney General's Office.
- United States: find your representative at house.gov and your senators at senate.gov. Detention conditions in federal facilities fall under the Bureau of Prisons.
- Anywhere else: write to your foreign ministry if you hold citizenship in common with either brother, and to human rights organisations that work on pre-trial detention and solitary confinement.
